An elegant bridge links the beach to the resort

The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa in Orange County is located at the heart of Huntington Beach and is within walking distance of the mall, Pacific City, and plenty of shops and restaurants on Main Street. Its location on the beach provides a picturesque ocean view from many of the rooms and waves for many surfers!

When my family checked in at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, we were greeted by the resortís outdoor marketplace near the entrance. This airy enclave consists of of shops, restaurants, stores, and a game room. The rest of the outside flourished with fountains and pools. A movie (Boss Baby) played for a night at one of the pools while I sat near the fire with my daughters, roasting símores. This was not the only time on this trip that we had símores.

Rooms include free Wi-Fi, 42-inch flat-screen televisions, and iPod docks. The private patios overlook the pool area and the ocean beyond it. There were several food venues available, including the Watertable, the resort's most popular eating spot. The service was spot-on and pleasant, although for a beachfront Southern California restaurant, more vegan/vegetarian options might have been expected. The server indicated that they are working on expanding this area of the menu. Pete's Sunset Grille and Tower 15 Pizzeria were available for more casual eating options. I especially appreciated Surf City Grocers which was a small but upscale grocery store that enables guests to purchase small snacks and sundries for their room.

The hosted beach bonfire is a unique component of the resort!

On our second evening at the Hyatt, we were treated to a beach bonfire. Chairs, blankets, hot chocolate, and símores are provided with each bonfire. Friendly staff was present to keep the fire going and attend to our needs, such as offering to get tea for me when I mentioned that I do not drink hot chocolate. They were very attentive to our needs. The bonfire and attendant staff can be reserved for a whole night, although one could leave the bonfire at any point in the evening. This bonfire would make an excellent treat for a special event such as a birthday.

Another way to relax at this resort is to enjoy the spa, outside of which are flowers, trees, and a koi pond. A workout room is also available for guests; headphones are provided.

There was a certain spectacle event arranged for kids on Saturday night at the pool with waterslides. Not only was music playing, but red and green light patterns danced on the ground, moving in time to the music. This display will liven things up for kids and kids at heart that wish to swim and slide on Saturday nights!

This is a beautiful resort with a distinctive flair which capitalizes on its beach location. Close to Disneyland (approximately 20 miles away) and Knotts Berry Farm, this resort will provide a quintessential Southern California vacation memory for all who visit.
